MOVING TIPS

• Place large, bulky items such as furniture and appliances in unit first. Place boxes and smaller items in last, stacking them on top of the larger items. Be sure boxes are sealed and stackable, this will save you space.

• If possible, leave walkways so you may access items if you need to. Also, leave items you may need to access toward the front of the storage space.

• Cover all furniture with plastic sheeting to prevent dust buildup. Mattresses and box springs should be wrapped in mattress covers, available for purchase on site. Upholstered furniture should be shrink-wrapped or covered in plastic sheeting.

• Mirrors and glass should be wrapped in cardboard and stood on end for best protection

• Do not store perishible food items. Canned and bottled goods are ok as long as they are not previously opened. Do not store pet food.

• Storage of flammables or other harmful chemicals such as paint thinner is strictly forbidden. Do not store explosives or ammunition.

• You may use items such as moisture absorbing packets and mothballs.

• Make a detailed inventory list of all items and their condition. If possible, take photos or video records of your stored items.

• Keep your inventory list, as well as your copy of the storage lease agreement, in a safe place. Do not leave them in your storage unit

• Always lock your unit. Use a good, heavy duty lock (1 1/2" or larger).

• Insure your stored items. Self storage facilities do not insure your goods. Insurance information will be given to you when you are renting your space. It is highly recommended if you are storing items of value.
